Russia has risen by 18 positions in the tourist rating
According to the new report of the World Economic Forum in 2015 Russia took the 45th place in the ranking of competitiveness in the sector of tourism and travel, climbing 18 positions.

According to international experts, the strengths of Russia are in the first place, its tourist resources: natural beauty and cultural attractions. Moreover, tourism products in Russia have become much more competitive on price by reducing the cost of the hotel rooms and the change rate of the ruble. Russia also has a relatively competitive infrastructure for air transport, the development of which has been marked progress.

The weaknesses of the competitiveness of the Russian sector of travel and tourism are generally unfavorable business climate, a relatively low level of security and international openness. Also reduces the competitiveness lack of infrastructure in land and water transport.

According to the World Economic Forum’ recent estimate today the tourism sector produces $ 30 billion (1.4% of the world market) added value and generates about a million workplaces.

"Significant Russian natural resources and skillful macroeconomic management may turn into perspectives of a relatively high level of prosperity of the country in the near future. However, if the country intends to be a serious player in the global economy, these factors are not sufficient by themselves. Russia urgently needs companies’ competitiveness to development and exploit the potential, to create a more diversified and dynamic economy", - says Michael Porter (Michael E. Porter), a professor at Harvard Business School (Harvard Business School) and co-director of the report.
