Ahead of Spain, but behind China, Germany and the USA
The market volume of the exhibition and convention activities in 2013 was approximately $780 million. This was announced today to the press by Sergey Bednov, Chairman of the RF CCI Committee on Fair and Exhibition Activities, General Director of Expocentre at the Europe+Asia Event Forum media scrum today. Last year, Russia held 1,700 exhibitions visited by about 20,000 foreign exhibitors. The total exhibition space was 2 million square meters. 'The figure is considerable, however, although ahead of Spain, we are seriously lagging behind the leaders in the event industry - the USA, Germany, and China,' - he said.
Sergey Bednov highly praised Europe+Asia Event Forum held in the city for the third time. 'It is an important international event,' - he said, 'The number of participants is growing year by year, and nowhere else will you find such a number of international spokespersons and professionals. So, I like coming to St. Petersburg to share experience with my colleagues.' He also noted the great opportunities of St. Petersburg in the convention activities. After commissioning the new Convention and Exhibition Centre EXPOFORUM, the Northern Capital will become the sole owner of a convention venue which can accommodate 18,000 participants at the same time.
