Today in St. Petersburg, an extended meeting of the RF CCI Committee on Fair and Exhibition Activities was held in the course of the first day of the Europe+Asia Event Forum. The meeting was opened by Sergey Sergeyevich Bednov, Chairman of the RF CCI Committee on Fair and Exhibition Activities, General Director of Expocentre. Mr. Bednov told meeting participants about a number of measures taken by the Committee for the industry development. The following events were marked as key measures in this regard: the Committee round table on the prospects of fair and exhibition activities in Russia held in June 2013, the series of meetings in the regions of the country, the discussion of the acceptance of the Exhibition Activity Concept, the analysis of the industry situation, the preparation for Parliament hearings in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia 'On the legislative basis of fair and exhibition and convention activities as a mechanism to improve competitiveness and promote products and services in the domestic and foreign markets' on February 19, 2014, and other measures.
 
Igor Alexeevich Korotin, Director of the RF CCI Department for Exhibition, Trade Fair and Convention Activities made amendments on the Parliamentary hearings and told the meeting participants about who is invited to the hearings, and what topics will be discussed. The purview and concept of the law on the exhibition and trade fair and convention activities in Russia will be considered as one of the main questions for discussion. Sergey Nikolayevich Trofimov, President of RESTEC® Group noted that the formation of the exhibition and convention cluster is being completed in St. Petersburg today. According to Mr. Trofimov, this cluster will also be helpful to the effective work of the exhibition and trade fair industry.
 
The main topics of the meeting also included the increase in effectiveness of exhibition and convention events and trade and economic missions in the current economic conditions, and suggestions of market players to the Exhibition Activity Concept and other issues. 
 
The participants of the extended meeting of the RF CCI Committee on Fair and Exhibition Activities noted that the Europe+Asia Event Forum is a showcase innovative event of the convention industry, as well as an excellent platform for sharing experiences.
